Battle Creek Log Homes’ most popular log style is the 6-by-12-inch double tongue-and-groove, log-on-log with the dovetail corner system. The 6-by-12-inch log can be purchased with or without chinking joints, hand hewn, smooth, V-grooved or in any combination. Round and D-style logs are available in 6- and 8-inch diameters with corner systems dovetail, saddle notch or butt-and-pass. Logs are connected using screws and dowel pins and sealed with horizontal foam gaskets and caulking. The logs are milled from eastern white pine, southern yellow pine or western red cedar. All logs are air dried or kiln dried. Eastern white pine, the wood of choice, is easy to work with and is known for the fewest problems in twisting and checking.
